After years of anticipation, I secured a reservation at The Clink, eager to experience its renowned gastronomic offerings. Entering the restaurant is an adventure in itself, reminiscent of airport security procedures. Guests undergo rigorous security checks, leaving behind personal belongings, including phones, to enter the prison.
A Unique Setting
The restaurant, located within the confines of Brixton Prison, occupies a converted governor’s house dating back to 1819. Despite its historical backdrop, the dining room exudes modern elegance, adorned with tasteful décor and artwork.
Rehabilitation through Cuisine
What sets The Clink apart is its workforce: current inmates seeking vocational training in food service. The restaurant serves as a platform for skill development, offering inmates the opportunity to earn qualifications and secure employment upon release.

Seated at a tastefully arranged table, I indulged in a three-course prix-fixe menu, offering a delightful selection of appetizers, mains, and desserts. Despite the modest prices, the culinary experience surpassed expectations, with dishes meticulously prepared and presented.
