Understanding the Mahadev App Controversy

The Mahadev App, a live betting platform, has found itself at the center of a massive controversy, allegedly involving a scam worth Rs 5,000 crore. Here’s a breakdown of the key events and players involved in this complex case.

The Alleged Scam and Investigation

Promoted by Ravi Uppal and Sourabh Chandrakar, the Mahadev App is accused of orchestrating a scam that has reportedly generated Rs 5,000 crore. The lavish Rs 250-crore wedding of Sourabh Chandrakar in the United Arab Emirates triggered an investigation by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).

Involvement of Ranbir Kapoor

Popular Hindi film actor Ranbir Kapoor has been drawn into the investigation, facing questioning regarding his association with the Mahadev App. The ED probe suggests that Kapoor was paid by the app promoters for endorsing their gaming platform, possibly using proceeds from the alleged crime.

Political Fallout

As the controversy unfolds, it has become a battleground for political parties, particularly with the Chhattisgarh election looming. The BJP and Congress are engaged in a war of words over the issue. Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar has been accused by the Chhattisgarh government of neglecting to request the blocking of platforms like Mahadev despite having the authority to do so.

Allegations Against Chhattisgarh CM

The BJP has pointed fingers at Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, alleging his involvement or knowledge of the scam. Amit Malviya, the BJP’s IT Cell chief, claims that the betting app operated under Baghel’s police patronage, with several police officers allegedly collaborating in the scam.

Statements from ED

The Enforcement Directorate has made significant claims regarding the investigation. They allege that Asim Das was sent from the UAE to deliver a substantial amount of cash for the election expenses of the ruling Congress in Chhattisgarh. Additionally, the ED has accused Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel of receiving Rs 508 crore from the promoters of the Mahadev betting app.

As the Mahadev App saga unfolds, it continues to raise questions about the intersection of politics, entertainment, and alleged financial misconduct.
