Elon Musk’s X is enhancing its user experience by introducing a feature that allows Android users to make audio and video calls directly from the app.
Rolling Out the Feature
According to a post by Enrique, one of the X engineers working on the project, Android users will gradually gain access to this feature through an app update. Enrique’s post on Friday announced the rollout, encouraging users to update their app and connect with their loved ones.
Premium User Access
However, it’s important to note that this feature will be available exclusively for premium users, adding another layer of value to the premium subscription.
Enabling and Disabling Calls
To manage audio and video calling settings, users can navigate to Settings > Privacy and Safety > Direct Messages. From there, users have the option to select who can initiate calls, choosing from three categories: people in their address book, people they follow, and verified users. Users can customize their preferences by selecting multiple options from these categories.
New Paid Tier for Verified Organizations
Earlier this month, X introduced a new basic paid tier tailored for verified organizations, offering it at a price of $200 per month or $2,000 per year. This basic tier provides verified organizations with a gold check-mark badge and several other benefits. The reduced cost of $200 per month, compared to the previous $1,000 per month for “full access,” makes it more accessible for smaller businesses. Subscribers to this tier receive ad credits and priority support, facilitating faster growth on X.
With these updates, X continues to evolve its platform, providing users with enhanced communication features and offering new subscription options for verified organizations.
